Candidate Statement
I want your vote because I believe in Escondido! I believe I am the right person for the job of city council District 4. My boys and I have been in the Escondido community for over 15 years. I have owned my small Escondido business since 2006. I am a fitness professional who is helping make the world a healthier place one person at a time. I believe in my clients and athletes and I believe I can make constructive changes for the people of Escondido.
My community involvement runs deep. I was involved 12 years with Escondido Youth Baseball as President/volunteer. During my time at Escondido Youth Baseball we successfully held Home RUN for Chelsea King and managed over 500 families. I have volunteered hundreds of hours helping the young athletes of San Pasqual High School to be better prepared not only on the field but in life. I was a volunteer coach at Escondido Girls Softball. These experiences have prepared me to represent you as city councilmember.
I received my BA in Political Science at Oklahoma State University. My first two years were spent at Palomar College. After college I went back to school at USD to obtain my Para Legal certificate. At that point in my life I went into the legal field for many years. But my passion has always been working with athletes and fitness. That is when I took the risk, quit my job and opened up a fitness company. I know the challenges that the small companies in Escondido face. This has prepared me to be your city councilmember.
Today we are living in a society and world that is ever changing. We must be flexible and willing to change with it in order to survive. As a small business owner, I have had to switch and shift my business model to remain in business. Change is good. This has prepared me for the job as your city councilmember.
I will bring a fresh set of eyes to help this city move forward in our everchanging world. I bring an insight that is very unique. Our lives have been affected in many ways during this pandemic – but one right that cannot be taken away is your right to vote. I am an empathetic leader. I am a proven leader. My life experiences have prepared me to be your next city councilmember!
With me as your councilmember your voice will be heard!
Please cast your vote for APRIL AUSTIN PUGH on November 3rd!
